Rohit John Chettri, born on April 12, 1991, in Kathmandu, Nepal, is a highly accomplished singer, musician, producer, lyricist, and guitarist. Growing up in a musically inclined family, Rohit’s father, Robin John Chettri, introduced him to various instruments, nurturing his passion for music from an early age. His early exposure to music shaped his creative journey, setting him on the path to becoming one of Nepal’s most respected artists.

At just seven years old, Rohit participated in an inter-school competition, performing the song “Jindagi ko k bharosa” by Karna Das, which sparked his dream of becoming a singer-songwriter. During his teenage years, he formed a band named “Derailed,” where he played as both the vocalist and drummer. After completing his School Leaving Certificate (SLC), he began performing at various pubs, bars, and private events, further developing his musical craft and style.

Rohit’s breakthrough came in 2013 with his hit song “Bistarai,” which quickly gained over a million views on YouTube. This success propelled him into the spotlight, leading to the release of his first solo album, Bistarai Bistarai, in 2015. Rohit continued to build on this momentum with subsequent albums, including Jhari Pachiko Indreni (2018), Bidaai (2019), and Mitho Yaad (2024), with the latter’s title track receiving widespread acclaim.

Aside from his musical accomplishments, Rohit has ventured into entrepreneurship and public speaking, showcasing his versatility. From 2015 to 2019, he was also a member of the iconic Nepali rock band 1974 AD, contributing to their album Hazar Sapana and performing internationally. After a four-year hiatus, Rohit made a strong return to the stage in 2024, reconnecting with his audience. A family man, he is married to Reema Shrestha Chettri and they have a son named Rishaan.
