Rain City Drive is a dynamic American rock band that originated in Sacramento, California, in 2014. Initially formed as Slaves, the band underwent a significant transformation in 2021, adopting their current name, Rain City Drive, to better reflect their evolving sound and musical identity.

The current lineup includes Matt McAndrew on vocals, Colin Vieira on bass, Weston Richmond on lead guitar, Felipe Sanchez on rhythm guitar, and Zachary Baker on drums. Matt McAndrew joined the group in 2019, bringing a fresh energy to their sound.

Known for their blend of heavy guitar riffs and melodic pop elements, Rain City Drive has carved out a distinctive space in the alternative rock scene. Their fusion of styles has earned them praise from critics, with Distorted Sound Magazine calling them a “melody machine” and Metal Hammer highlighting them as a “band to hear.”

In 2022, the band released their self-titled album, Rain City Drive, which featured the hit single “Cutting It Close.” The track gained widespread airplay on SiriusXM Octane and reached number five on their Big Uns chart. By the end of 2022, Rain City Drive had amassed over 100 million streams in the U.S. and over 150 million streams globally, with nearly 600,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

Their momentum continued with the release of Things Are Different Now in September 2024. The band is also hitting the road, with shows lined up in the UK, including major performances at the Margate Summer Series and Gunnersbury Park in August 2025. With their blend of post-hardcore roots and mainstream rock appeal, Rain City Drive continues to solidify their place in the contemporary rock scene.
