About Patrick Brasca
Patrick Brasca, born on September 6, 1999, in Canada, is a Canadian-Taiwanese singer-songwriter known for his fresh blend of pop, hip-hop, and Mandarin music. Of mixed European and Chinese descent, Brasca, also known by his Chinese name Pai Weijun (派偉俊), has made a name for himself in the Mandarin pop industry with his distinct sound and multilingual abilities.
His musical journey began at an early age—learning African drums at three and picking up the acoustic guitar by nine. Driven by his passion for music, he moved to Taiwan, where he caught the attention of JVR Music, the label founded by Taiwanese music icon Jay Chou. By 13, Brasca had signed with JVR, and in 2016, he gained international recognition for his collaboration with Chou on “Try,” the theme song for Kung Fu Panda 3. The track, seamlessly blending Mandarin and English, introduced Brasca to a global audience and set the stage for his future in the industry.
In 2020, Brasca released his debut album, Angst, a deeply personal project that showcased his evolving artistry. The album’s success earned him a nomination for Best Hip-Hop Album at the 12th Golden Indie Music Awards. Hit singles like “Don’t Wanna Lie” and “Drinking On A Tuesday” further cemented his status as an artist to watch. With his cross-cultural influences and boundary-pushing sound, Brasca continues to bridge Eastern and Western music, making waves both in Taiwan and beyond.
