Onofre Paz is a legendary figure in Argentine folk music and the unmistakable voice behind Los Manseros Santiagueños—one of the most celebrated folklore groups in the country’s history. Born in La Banda, Santiago del Estero, he began his journey into music in 1959 alongside Leocadio del Carmen Torres. What started as a humble vocal duo quickly grew into a powerful ensemble, giving birth to the now-iconic Los Manseros Santiagueños.

Drawing from the deep roots of chacarera and zamba, Paz helped shape a sound that speaks to the heart of Argentine identity. Their first LP, released in 1963, marked the beginning of a long and impactful discography that would span over six decades. His role as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist has been central to the group’s enduring success, bringing an unmatched authenticity and soul to their music.
