About Naughty Boy
Naughty Boy, born Shahid Khan on January 1, 1981, in Watford, England, is a British DJ, record producer, and songwriter known for blending R&B, pop, and UK garage. Growing up in a Pakistani household, Khan was surrounded by the sounds of traditional Pakistani music and Bollywood films, which influenced his early musical tastes. After a brief stint at London Guildhall University, he decided to pursue his passion for music full-time, taking on various jobs to fund his dream. A key turning point came in 2007 when he won £44,000 on the game show Deal or No Deal. He used this windfall to set up a home studio and launch his own label, Naughty Boy Recordings.
Khan’s breakout moment came in 2010 with the release of “Never Be Your Woman,” featuring Emeli Sandé and Wiley. His debut album, Hotel Cabana (2013), produced chart-topping hits like “La La La” with Sam Smith and “Wonder” with Emeli Sandé. He has also collaborated with top artists, including Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin on the hit “Runnin’ (Lose It All)” in 2015.
Beyond his musical career, Naughty Boy is an advocate for dementia awareness, particularly after his mother was diagnosed with the condition in 2017. His dedication to blending diverse musical influences has solidified his place as a key figure in contemporary British music.
