About Muse

Muse is an English rock band that was formed in 1994 in Teignmouth, Devon. The band consists of Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chris Wolstenholme (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion). Known for their unique and dynamic sound, Muse blends elements of alternative rock, progressive rock, space rock, and electronic music, making them one of the most innovative bands in the modern rock scene.

The band’s journey began in their school days when Bellamy joined Howard’s band after impressing them with his guitar skills. The trio recruited Wolstenholme, who switched from drums to bass to complete the lineup. Originally called Rocket Baby Dolls, they won a local battle of the bands, which inspired them to pursue music professionally and eventually adopt the name Muse.

Their debut album, Showbiz (1999), introduced Bellamy’s signature falsetto and melancholic rock style. The follow-up, Origin of Symmetry (2001), expanded their sound with classical influences and intricate instrumentation, earning them a reputation for high-energy performances. With Absolution (2003), they incorporated orchestral elements and achieved greater commercial success.

Muse’s discography spans a variety of themes, from political and social issues to scientific concepts. Albums like Black Holes and Revelations (2006), The Resistance (2009), The 2nd Law (2012), and Drones (2015) have solidified their status as genre-defying rock pioneers. With Simulation Theory (2018) and Will of the People (2022), they continue to push the boundaries of rock music.

Over the years, Muse has earned numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards, and has sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
