Mikky Ekko

Mikky Ekko, born John Stephen Sudduth on December 17, 1984, in Shreveport, Louisiana, is an American singer, songwriter, and producer recognized for his emotive mix of pop, indie, and R&B. Growing up in a musical family, with his father being a preacher, Ekko was deeply influenced by gospel and soul music from an early age. He later relocated to Nashville to pursue his music career, initially as a songwriter for other artists. His debut EP Strange Fruit (2009), known for its captivating a cappella style, helped him catch the attention of the music industry, leading to collaborations with producer Clams Casino.

Ekko’s big break came in 2013 when he co-wrote and was featured on Rihanna’s hit single “Stay.” The song became a worldwide success, earning him global recognition. Buoyed by this success, he released his debut album Time in 2015, which showcased his soulful vocals and introspective lyricism, further cementing his place in the music scene.

In 2018, Mikky Ekko released his second album, Fame, which delved deeper into themes of love, identity, and personal transformation. Known for his emotionally charged live performances, he continues to distinguish himself with his unique blend of genres, combining pop, indie, and R&B to craft a sound that is all his own.
