Mechatok, the alias of Timur Tokdemir, is a Berlin-based electronic music producer, DJ, and songwriter who has carved out a distinct space in the experimental pop and club music scenes. Born in 1998 and raised in Munich by Turkish and Tunisian parents, he was classically trained in guitar from an early age. But his musical path took a turn in his teens when the futuristic sounds of Daft Punk and Justice inspired him to dive into electronic production.
By age 14, Tokdemir was tinkering with GarageBand; within a year, he was uploading his own tracks online. His 2016 debut EP See Thru, released via Staycore, marked his entry into the underground club world—offering listeners a taste of his signature sound: minimal yet emotionally vivid, blending ambient textures, trance-like melodies, and left-field pop.
Mechatok’s breakout moment came in 2020 with Good Luck, a full-length collaboration with Swedish artist Bladee, released on the cult label Year0001. The album, with standout tracks like “Drama” and “God,” merges angelic synthscapes with Bladee’s auto-tuned introspection. A remix of “Drama” by Charli XCX brought even more attention to their unique creative chemistry.
Outside of collaborations, Mechatok has released solo work such as the All My Time EP and singles like “Addiction” and “Virus Freestyle.” He’s also a captivating live performer, bringing his atmospheric, emotionally resonant sets to iconic stages like Berghain and Roskilde Festival.
