MC Ceja, born Alberto Mendoza Nieves on February 15, 1978, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, is a pioneering rapper and singer in the reggaeton and Latin hip-hop scenes. Nicknamed “El Cejón” for his distinctive eyebrows, he grew up between Puerto Rico and Brooklyn, New York, immersing himself in the musical cultures of both places. By age 13, he was already performing at local parties and talent shows, foreshadowing his future in the industry.

His big break came when he connected with DJ Eric, joining the influential collective “La Industria.” This opened the door to collaborations on iconic compilations like Hip Hop Reggae Mix and Street Style 1. In 1996, MC Ceja released his debut solo album, Luz Solar, featuring the hit Confusión, which dominated the charts for weeks. The following year, he teamed up with Lito & Polaco to form Los Tres Mosqueteros, solidifying his place in reggaeton’s golden era.

Over the years, MC Ceja has worked with industry legends like Daddy Yankee, Ivy Queen, and Wisin & Yandel, evolving his sound while staying true to his roots. His albums, from Boricua’s State of Mind (2001) to King Mendo (2018), showcase his lyrical prowess and storytelling.

In 2024, he released Alquimia, an album reflecting personal growth and transformation, with standout track Promesas Rotas. A devoted father and artist, MC Ceja continues to leave his mark, proving that authenticity and resilience are the keys to longevity in music.
