About Gustavo Laureano

Gustavo Laureano is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and guitarist best known as the lead vocalist of La Secta AllStar. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he discovered his passion for music at a young age, teaching himself to play bass, drums, and guitar while refining his vocal skills in local church choirs.

In the early 1990s, while studying at the University of Orlando, Laureano crossed paths with bassist Mark Kilpatrick. Their shared love for ‘80s rock led them to collaborate on songwriting, eventually forming La Secta AllStar. The band quickly gained recognition in both Florida and Puerto Rico, catching the attention of major artists. Their songwriting talents landed them opportunities to work with Ricky Martin, who recorded their song Bombón de Azúcar for his 1995 album A Medio Vivir, and Ednita Nazario, who included their track Última Vez in her album Espíritu Libre (1996).

La Secta AllStar released their debut album, Aniquila, in 1998, marking the beginning of a successful career. With a distinctive blend of Latin rock and pop, the band earned numerous accolades, including Billboard and Lo Nuestro awards, and even Grammy nominations.

In 2007, Laureano explored his solo artistry with Kingcallero del Amor, an album that highlighted his musical versatility. Though he pursued individual projects, he remained active with La Secta AllStar until 2016. In recent years, he has collaborated with artists such as Tempo, Jon Z, and Christian Pagán, releasing singles like Laberinto (2018) and Como Quisiera (2019).

With his soulful voice and heartfelt songwriting, Gustavo Laureano continues to leave an imprint on Latin music, bridging rock and pop with authentic storytelling.
