About Matt Maltese
Matt Maltese, born Matthew Jonathan Gordon Maltese on October 6, 1995, in Reading, England, is a British-Canadian singer-songwriter and producer celebrated for his signature blend of melancholic indie pop, chamber pop, and alternative rock. Raised by Canadian-Italian parents, Maltese grew up surrounded by music and began writing songs at just 14. His introspective nature and poetic sensibility soon guided him to London, where he fully immersed himself in the music scene.
He made his debut in 2015 with the single Even If It’s a Lie, a haunting piano ballad that quickly earned him a dedicated following. His first studio album, Bad Contestant (2018), introduced the world to his sardonic wit and heartbreak-soaked lyricism. Over the years, Maltese has continued to evolve with albums like Krystal (2019), Good Morning It’s Now Tomorrow (2021), and Driving Just to Drive (2023), each revealing a deeper, more refined emotional palette.
In 2025, Maltese released Hers, his sixth studio album, entirely self-produced. The album drew praise for its tender introspection and rich, cinematic textures—an honest reflection of personal growth and creative maturity.
Outside of his solo work, Maltese is also a sought-after songwriter, having penned songs for artists like Birdy and Matilda Mann. In 2023, he launched his own label, Last Recordings On Earth, to champion emerging artists like Searows.
Known for his lyrical vulnerability and dreamy arrangements, Matt Maltese continues to carve out a singular space in modern music, offering listeners a soundtrack for both heartache and hope.
