Maruv, born Hanna Borysivna Popeliukh on February 15, 1991, in Pavlohrad, Ukraine, is a celebrated singer, songwriter, and producer known for her innovative blend of pop, electronic, and dance music. She began her musical journey as part of the band The Pringlez, but in 2017, she rebranded herself as Maruv and began her solo career. That same year, she released her debut EP, Stories, which included tracks in Ukrainian, Russian, and English, showcasing her ability to bridge cultures and genres.
Her breakout moment came in 2018 with the release of “Drunk Groove,” a collaboration with Boosin that became a viral sensation. The song’s infectious energy and catchy beat gained her widespread recognition, setting the stage for her success. In 2019, Maruv won Ukraine’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with her electrifying track “Siren Song.” However, due to a dispute over contractual obligations involving performances in Russia, she ultimately withdrew from representing Ukraine at the contest.
