Originally formed in 1994 under the name Kara’s Flowers, the band began as a high school project among friends Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick. Although they released one album under their original name, commercial success didn’t come until they rebranded as Maroon 5 in the early 2000s, bringing on guitarist James Valentine and evolving their sound.
