Mari Kvien Brunvoll

Mari Kvien Brunvoll is a talented Norwegian singer and composer, celebrated for her groundbreaking fusion of jazz, folk, and electronic music. Born on February 20, 1984, in Molde, Norway, she hails from a musical family—her mother, Inger Johanne Brunvoll, is a jazz singer and pianist, and her sister, Ane Brun, is a renowned singer-songwriter.

Since 2008, Mari has been captivating audiences with her live performances, where she uniquely blends her voice with a range of instruments, including kalimba, kazoo, zither, and various percussion. Her music is a delicate balance of acoustic warmth and electronic experimentation, creating an intimate yet adventurous sound.

In 2012, Mari released her debut self-titled album on Jazzland Recordings, which earned critical acclaim and was nominated for a Norwegian Grammy in the open category. The album’s standout track, “Everywhere You Go,” gained even more recognition when renowned DJ and producer Ricardo Villalobos remixed it into a 28-minute masterpiece, introducing her music to a wider international audience.

Mari has performed at some of Norway’s most prestigious festivals, such as Nattjazz, Moldejazz, and Øyafestivalen, and has collaborated with various musicians, including Stein Urheim and the ensemble Building Instrument.
