Maki, born Ralph William Datoon on November 27, 1999, in Quezon City, Philippines, is a talented singer-songwriter known for his emotionally charged lyrics and catchy melodies. Maki’s musical journey began in high school when he started writing R&B songs and auditioning for various recording companies. After earning a degree in communications from New Era University, he decided to pursue music professionally.

In December 2021, Maki released his debut single “Halaga” (“Worth”) under Tarsier Records, marking his entrance into the music industry. However, it was in 2023 that he truly gained attention with his hit single “Saan?” (“Where?”), which struck a chord with listeners due to its poignant themes of separation anxiety. The song went viral on TikTok, amassing over 500,000 views, and helped propel him into the spotlight. That same year, Maki released his debut EP, “Tanong” (“Question”), which featured tracks like “Saan?” and “Bakit?” (“Why?”).

Maki’s breakthrough came in May 2024 with the release of “Dilaw” (“Yellow”), a song blending indie pop-rock and power pop influences. The track, which explores themes of unconditional love, quickly became a fan favorite, topping both local Spotify and Billboard charts. It even made it onto the global Spotify chart, a rare feat for OPM songs.

In addition to his recordings, Maki has captivated audiences with live performances, including his debut solo concert, “Maki-Concert,” which sold out quickly. As of 2025, Maki is preparing for a regional tour and major festival appearances, continuing to solidify his place as a rising star in the contemporary OPM scene.
