Lune

Lune, born Mailan Ghafouri on September 25, 2002, in Heidelberg, Germany, is a rising talent in the German music scene, celebrated for her unique fusion of alternative hip-hop, pop, and R&B. Of Kurdish descent, Lune’s family fled Iraq in 1995, finding refuge in Germany. Growing up in Sinsheim, she was influenced by a blend of cultures, which profoundly shaped her sound and musical identity.

Her musical career took off in 2020 after she participated in the popular German YouTube talent show Keller sucht den Superstar. Lune’s debut single, “Gebe auf,” released in October 2020, became an instant hit, reaching No. 2 on the German charts and earning gold certifications in Germany and Austria. She followed up with her EP Mondschein, which also charted in both Germany and Switzerland, further establishing her place in the music industry.

In 2023, Lune released her debut self-titled album, which charted at No. 14 in Germany and No. 26 in Switzerland. She continued her success with the 2024 release of Mailan, which also made it into the top 20 on the German charts. Known for her heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies, Lune has worked with artists like Zuna, Samra, and Juh-Dee, and performed at major festivals including By:Larm in Oslo and Splash! Festival in Germany. Her authentic, emotionally resonant music has earned her a devoted following, solidifying her as one of Germany’s most promising young artists.
