Marlon “Loonie” Peroramas, born on December 18, 1986, in Pasig City, Philippines, is one of the most influential figures in Filipino hip-hop. A rapper, songwriter, producer, and battle rap legend, Loonie is celebrated for his lyrical skills and his deep impact on the Filipino rap scene.

Loonie’s musical journey began in his teenage years, inspired by iconic hip-hop figures such as 2Pac, Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. His early exposure to these artists ignited a passion for rap, leading him to freestyle battles. He gained widespread recognition within the FlipTop Battle League, where he earned the title “Hari ng Tugma” (King of Rhymes), showcasing his mastery of intricate, multisyllabic rhyme schemes.

In 2011, Loonie released his debut album, The Ones Who Never Made It, which quickly gained traction in the Filipino hip-hop community. His 2014 EP, Ultrasound, marked his breakthrough into mainstream music with hits like “Balewala,” which garnered millions of YouTube views and helped solidify his place in OPM (Original Pilipino Music) rap.

After a brief hiatus, Loonie returned in 2023 with his album Meron Na, demonstrating his growth as an artist. Beyond his music, he’s also known for his philanthropy and mentoring of young talent.
