About Little Simz

Little Simz, born Simbiatu “Simbi” Abisola Abiola Ajikawo on February 23, 1994, in Islington, London, is a British rapper, singer, and actress celebrated for her powerful lyrics and genre-blending sound. Raised in a Nigerian household, her exposure to music began early, writing her first song at just 10 years old. Her formative years at St Mary’s Youth Club in Islington played a crucial role, offering her the chance to develop her craft alongside future stars like Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke.

Simz gained widespread recognition with her debut album, A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons (2015), followed by Stillness in Wonderland (2016) and Grey Area (2019). The latter was met with critical acclaim, earning her a spot on the Mercury Prize shortlist and winning Best Album at both the Ivor Novello and NME Awards. Her fourth album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (2021), not only won the Mercury Prize but also earned her the Brit Award for Best New Artist in 2022.

In 2022, Simz released No Thank You, an introspective project that delves into themes of exploitation and mental health in the music industry. She followed it up with the EP Drop 7 in February 2024 and announced her upcoming album, Lotus, slated for release in June 2025.

Outside of music, Simz has ventured into acting, starring in the popular Netflix series Top Boy and appearing in Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021). Her multifaceted career and commitment to authenticity have firmly established her as one of the leading voices in contemporary British music.
