Leon Bridges

Leon Bridges, born Todd Michael Bridges on July 13, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia, is a celebrated American singer-songwriter and record producer known for his soulful sound that channels the essence of 1960s rhythm and blues. Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Bridges’ musical influences were shaped by artists such as Usher and Ginuwine, which led him to develop a deep passion for music from a young age.

Before making music his full-time career, Bridges worked as a dishwasher while performing at local open-mic events. His big break came in 2014 when he was discovered by members of the band White Denim, who were captivated by his performance at a bar. This discovery led to a contract with Columbia Records and the release of his debut album, Coming Home, in 2015. The album received widespread acclaim and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album.

Bridges’ artistry continued to evolve with his 2018 album, Good Thing, which reached number three on the Billboard 200 and garnered another Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. The single “Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand” won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance.

In 2021, Bridges released Gold-Diggers Sound, showcasing a more modern approach to soul music. He further expanded his musical horizons with the 2022 EP Texas Moon, a collaboration with the band Khruangbin. His music often reflects his connection to his Fort Worth roots, blending traditional soul influences with contemporary sounds.
