Ari Staprans Leff, better known by his stage name Lauv, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer born on August 8, 1994, in San Francisco, California. Growing up, Lauv moved frequently across the U.S., which shaped his diverse musical influences. He began his journey in music at a young age, learning to play the piano and viola, and later picked up the guitar at 11. Lauv’s passion for music led him to pursue music technology studies at New York University, where he refined his production skills.

Lauv rose to fame with his hit single “I Like Me Better” in 2017, which was featured on his 2018 album I Met You When I Was 18 (The Playlist). The track became a breakthrough moment in his career, earning him a global fanbase. His debut album, How I’m Feeling, released in March 2020, debuted at number 16 on the US Billboard 200 chart, further cementing his place in the pop music scene. In 2022, Lauv released his second album, All 4 Nothing, where he continued to explore emotive, electronic-based pop music.

In addition to his solo work, Lauv has collaborated with several artists, including Julia Michaels, Ed Sheeran, and Demi Lovato, contributing to tracks like “No Promises.” His music blends heartfelt lyrics with a mix of electronic and acoustic elements, resonating with audiences worldwide.
