Koffee, born Mikayla Victoria Simpson on February 16, 2000, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, is a groundbreaking reggae artist, singer, songwriter, rapper, and guitarist. Raised in a Seventh-day Adventist household, she was exposed to music from an early age, singing in church choirs and learning the guitar at 12. Influenced by reggae icons like Protoje and Chronixx, Koffee started writing her own songs at a young age, gaining early attention with her viral hit “Legend” when she was just 15.
Her 2019 EP Rapture catapulted her into the spotlight, earning her the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. At 19, Koffee became the youngest and first woman to win in that category. The EP’s breakout single “Toast,” produced by Walshy Fire of Major Lazer, quickly became a global anthem, blending reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeats in a way that resonated with audiences worldwide.
In 2022, Koffee released her debut album Gifted, which further showcased her versatility.
