About Kelsea Ballerini
Kelsea Ballerini, whose full name is Kelsea Nicole Ballerini was born on September 12, 1993. She is an American country pop singer and songwriter who has made significant strides in the music industry since the 2010s. Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, she grew up as an only child in a family with deep ties to music and the arts. Her father, Ed, worked as a sales manager at a country radio station, while her mother, Carla, was involved in marketing for a Bible publishing company. Ballerini’s early exposure to music and performance began with dance lessons at the age of three, which she pursued for ten years. She also sang in church and school choirs, and at the age of 12, she wrote her first song as a tribute to her mother.
In 2014, Ballerini signed a contract with Black River Entertainment and released her debut single, “Love Me Like You Mean It,” which quickly climbed the Country Airplay chart. Her debut album, The First Time, followed in 2015 and produced several hit singles, including “Dibs” and “Peter Pan.” These early successes made her the first female artist since Wynonna Judd to send her first three singles to the top of the country charts. Ballerini’s ability to connect with audiences through her catchy melodies and relatable lyrics quickly established her as a rising star in the country music scene.
Her second album, Unapologetically, was released in 2017 and continued her streak of success. The album featured hits like “Legends” and “Miss Me More,” and earned her critical acclaim and multiple award nominations, including a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album. Ballerini’s collaboration with The Chainsmokers on the song “This Feeling” further expanded her appeal beyond the country genre, showcasing her versatility as an artist.
In 2020, Ballerini released her third studio album, Kelsea, along with a counterpart acoustic album titled Ballerini. These projects highlighted different facets of her artistry, with Kelsea embodying a bold and effervescent style, while Ballerini offered a more emotional and stripped-down approach. Her collaboration with Kenny Chesney on “Half of My Hometown” from this album garnered two Country Music Association Awards, further solidifying her place in the country music world.
Ballerini’s influence continued to grow as she ventured into television, serving as a coach on The Voice and co-hosting the CMT Music Awards. In 2022, she released her fourth studio album, Subject to Change, which included the hit single “Heartfirst” and featured collaborations with artists like Kelly Clarkson and Carly Pearce. The album’s success was followed by the release of her short film and EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, in 2023.
In 2024, Ballerini announced her fifth studio album, Patterns, set for release in October. Throughout her career, she has been influenced by both pop and country music, with artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Shania Twain, and Taylor Swift playing pivotal roles in shaping her sound. As a four-time Grammy Award nominee, Ballerini continues to evolve as an artist, blending her pop influences with her country roots to create a unique and compelling musical identity.
