Juma Mussa Mkambala, better known by his stage name Jux, is a Tanzanian singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur born on September 1, 1989, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Recognized for his contributions to Bongo Flava, Afropop, and R&B, Jux is widely known by his nickname “African Boy” and is a leading figure in East African music.
Jux’s musical journey began at the age of 16 when he started rapping, eventually joining the group Wakacha in 2008. Shortly after, he launched his solo career under the A.M Records label. His debut R&B single, “Nimedata”, marked the beginning of a successful solo path, and over the years, he has released several hit tracks such as “Sugua” featuring Diamond Platnumz, “Juu” with Vanessa Mdee, and “Regina” featuring Otile Brown.
In 2019, Jux released his debut album The Love Album, collaborating with artists like Singah and Nyashinski, followed by his second album King of Hearts in 2022, which featured Zuchu, Marioo, Mbosso, and Bien. These albums solidified his status in the East African music scene.
Aside from his musical success, Jux is a fashion icon and entrepreneur. He launched his own fashion brand, “African Boy”, in 2018, which expanded into Kenya by 2020.
In his personal life, Jux has been in the spotlight for his relationships, including his engagement to Nigerian actress Priscilla Ojo in 2024 and their marriage in 2025.
