Julia Michaels

Julia Carin Cavazos, professionally known as Julia Michaels, was born on November 13, 1993, in Davenport, Iowa. She moved to Santa Clarita, California, at a young age, where she began singing at 12. By the time she was 16, Michaels had already embarked on a songwriting career, crafting songs for major artists such as Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Britney Spears.

In 2017, Michaels signed with Republic Records and released her debut single, “Issues,” which became a major hit, peaking at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning quintuple platinum certification from the RIAA. This success was followed by her EP Nervous System, which was also well-received. As a talented songwriter, Michaels continued to contribute to hits like Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Selena Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me.”

Her debut studio album, Not in Chronological Order, dropped in 2021, earning critical praise despite its modest commercial success. Known for her emotive vocals and candid lyrics, Michaels blends pop with elements of electronic dance music in her music.
