About Jhayco

Jesús Manuel Nieves Cortés, known professionally as Jhayco, is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and record producer who has made a significant impact on the global reggaeton scene. Born on April 9, 1993, in Río Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jhayco later moved to Camden, New Jersey, where he learned English, an experience that would influence his music and broaden his appeal. His early life was marked by a deep passion for music, and by the age of 15, he had already begun writing songs. His talent caught the attention of producer Eddie Dee, leading to collaborations with industry giants like Lele el Arma Secreta and Eliel, and eventually, the duo Zion & Lennox. Jhayco’s early songwriting efforts were showcased on Zion & Lennox’s 2011 album Los Verdaderos, where he contributed to three tracks under the pseudonym Jay el Superdotado.

In 2013, Jhayco joined the Latin pop group Stereo 4, but it wasn’t long before he decided to pursue a solo career. His early work as a songwriter included contributions to Tito El Bambino’s Latin Grammy-winning album Invencible and hits like “Criminal” by Natti Natasha and Ozuna. These experiences laid the foundation for Jhayco’s emergence as a solo artist.

Jhayco’s solo career began in earnest when he signed with Universal Music Latino and released his debut single “Donde no se vea” in 2017. His breakthrough came with the release of “No Me Conoce” in 2019, a track that quickly climbed the charts and became a massive hit, especially after the release of its remix featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny. The success of “No Me Conoce” propelled Jhayco into the international spotlight and set the stage for his debut studio album, Famouz, released in 2019. The album featured collaborations with prominent artists like J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and C. Tangana, and it solidified Jhayco’s status as a rising star in the Latin music industry.

In 2020, Jhayco re-released Famouz as Famouz Reloaded, adding new tracks and collaborations, including the hit “Como Se Siente,” which was later remixed by Bad Bunny. His collaboration with Bad Bunny continued with the chart-topping single “DÁKITI,” which reached number one on the Billboard Global 200 and peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.

Jhayco’s success continued with his 2021 album Timelezz, which featured a diverse lineup of collaborators including Kendo Kaponi, Arcángel, Myke Towers, and Skrillex. The album produced several hits, including “Ley Seca” and “Christian Dior,” further cementing his reputation as a leading figure in reggaeton. His ability to blend traditional reggaeton with contemporary sounds has earned him widespread acclaim and a massive following.

Today, Jhayco is recognized as a multi-platinum-selling artist with over 32 million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 10 billion combined streams. His influence in the Latin music industry is undeniable, and his collaborations with artists like Karol G and Bad Bunny have only expanded his reach. Jhayco continues to innovate and push the boundaries of reggaeton, making him one of the genre’s most exciting and dynamic artists.
