Jay Critch, born Jason Cole Critchlow on February 25, 1998, is a Brooklyn-raised rapper who carved out his own lane in the modern hip-hop scene by blending gritty East Coast lyricism with melodic trap vibes. Growing up in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, Critch was influenced early on by his older brother’s rapping and the lyrical finesse of artists like Jay-Z, Fabolous, and Lil Wayne.

He began uploading tracks to SoundCloud in 2016, and it didn’t take long for his music to catch fire. His breakout moment came with “Did It Again,” a song that gained massive traction after Rich the Kid jumped on the remix. The success of that track led to a deal with Rich Forever Music, launching Critch into the spotlight.

In 2017, he was featured on Rich Forever 3, a mixtape alongside Rich the Kid and Famous Dex, which showcased his punchy flow and effortless delivery. A year later, he dropped his debut solo mixtape, Hood Favorite, collaborating with major names like Offset, French Montana, and Fabolous—cementing his place in the rap game.
