Having spent her early childhood in Ethiopia and Bahrain, she returned to London during her teenage years, where her multicultural experiences began to shape her music. Influenced by legendary artists like Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, and James Brown, Izzy embarked on her musical journey by winning the ILUVLIVE Open Mic competition in 2013, leading to the release of her debut EP, Coolbeanz.

Her rising talent soon earned her a spot on the BBC Sound of 2016 longlist, as well as the Critics’ Choice shortlist at the Brit Awards. She also won the BBC Music Introducing Award that same year. In September 2016, Izzy released her debut album A Moment of Madness, which featured popular tracks like “Adam & Eve” and “Diamond,” gaining significant airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.

Izzy’s collaborations extend beyond her solo work, having teamed up with artists like Milky Chance for “Bad Things” and Kungs and David Guetta for the hit single “All Night Long.” She has also toured with prominent artists such as Coldplay, Sam Smith, and Rudimental.

In addition to her musical success, Izzy is an advocate for social change, serving as a UK ambassador for Studio Samuel, an organization that empowers girls in Ethiopia through education and job training.
