Grupo Marca Registrada is a prominent Mexican regional music band that has captured the hearts of audiences both in Mexico and internationally. Formed in 2014 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, the band quickly rose to fame with their distinctive blend of traditional Mexican music, incorporating elements of norteño, sierreño, and electronic music. The group is composed of Fidel Oswaldo Castro, the band’s lead singer, composer, and accordionist, along with drummer Luis Fernando Medina, bassist Fidel Jiménez, and backing vocalist and bassist Ángel Mondragón.

The band’s journey began modestly when the members played regional music as a hobby. Fidel Castro, who was washing cars and working as a waiter at the time, was invited by former member Álvaro Álvarez to join a musical project. Although Álvarez later left, Castro took the reins and led the group to their first significant milestone: the release of their debut album, La Vida Ruina, in 2015. The album initially gained attention in their local community, prompting the band to take their music career more seriously. That same year, they signed with DEL Records, a label specializing in regional Mexican music, and released a deluxe version of La Vida Ruina. This album featured collaborations with notable artists like Ariel Camacho and La Séptima Banda, which helped establish Grupo Marca Registrada as a rising star in the regional music scene.

The band’s success continued to grow over the years, with several hit singles and albums further cementing their place in the industry. Their 2023 single “Di que sí,” featuring Grupo Frontera, became a significant hit, charting at number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 15 on Hot Latin Songs, and reaching number one on Regional Mexican Airplay. Another notable track, “El Rescate,” featuring Junior H, stayed on the Billboard Global 200 for seven weeks, peaking at 153. These accomplishments reflect the group’s ability to appeal to a broad audience, blending traditional Mexican sounds with contemporary influences.

In addition to their chart-topping singles, Grupo Marca Registrada has collaborated with various renowned artists in the regional Mexican genre, including Ariel Camacho, Carín León, Fuerza Regida, and Gerardo Ortiz. These collaborations have not only expanded their musical repertoire but also increased their visibility on the international stage.

Their 2023 album, No Pare La Magia (Don’t Stop the Magic), further showcased their evolving sound and reached number 187 on the US Billboard 200. This achievement highlighted the band’s growing influence beyond the Mexican music scene, resonating with a global audience.
