About Grupo Firme
Grupo Firme, a renowned regional Mexican band, originated in Tijuana, Baja California, and has made a significant impact on the Sinaloan music scene. Formed in 2014 by Eduin Cazares and Jairo Corrales, Grupo Firme initially struggled to gain traction with their debut album Pasado, Presente, Futuro. Despite the album’s modest success, it set the stage for their future in the music industry. The band’s early efforts included additional albums such as El Barco and En Vivo desde Tijuana: Los Buitrones y Los Firmes, the latter featuring a collaboration with Los Buitres de Culiacán. These projects helped them gain initial recognition.
The group’s breakthrough came in 2020 with the release of the singles “PÃdeme,” “El Roto,” and “Juro Por Dios.” These tracks significantly boosted their popularity, leading to an extensive tour in Colombia. During this tour, they recorded a live album, En Vivo desde MedellÃn, Colombia, which further expanded their international reach. Their collaboration with Colombian artist Maluma on the song “Cada Quién” marked a notable highlight of their 2020 achievements. The same year, Grupo Firme was nominated for a Premios Juventud, showcasing their growing influence.
2021 proved to be a landmark year for the band. They won four Premios Juventud awards and dominated the Premios Lo Nuestro, securing five wins out of six nominations. Their album Nos Divertimos Lo Grando Lo Imposible earned them their first Latin Grammy for Best Banda Album, cementing their status as leading figures in the regional Mexican genre. Building on this success, the group embarked on a stadium tour in 2022, titled Enfiestados y Amanecidos. The tour began at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, highlighting their rising star power and broad appeal across North America.
In addition to their critical acclaim, Grupo Firme has engaged in several notable collaborations. Their partnership with Grupo Frontera on the song “El Amor de Su Vida” explores themes of love and loss, while their performance with Banda El Recodo at SoFi Stadium further showcased their collaborative spirit. Looking ahead, the band is set to release a dance-pop collaboration with American singer Demi Lovato titled “Chula” on August 15, 2024, promising to blend their signature style with new influences.
The formation of Grupo Firme was deeply rooted in the personal and professional journey of Eduin Cazares and JoaquÃn Ruiz. Originally known as Fuerza Oculta, the band members, hailing from Culiacán, Mazatlán, and Nayarit, spent years playing in various bands before coming together. Cazares, who faced disapproval from his parents regarding his musical ambitions, began performing on the streets, sidewalks, and even the backs of trucks to make ends meet. His determination was matched by his pursuit of a marketing degree, which he leveraged to build the band’s online presence and fan base.
Grupo Firme’s journey from local performances to international acclaim reflects their dedication and ability to adapt. Their success, driven by a blend of traditional regional Mexican music and modern influences, has established them as a dynamic force in the genre. Their story continues to evolve, with upcoming projects and collaborations poised to further cement their legacy in the music industry.
