Aaron Daniel Davies, known professionally as Bugzy Malone, is a British rapper and actor born in Manchester, England on December 20, 1990. Widely recognized as a pivotal figure in the grime music scene, Malone has been instrumental in the genre’s revival, particularly in steering the UK urban music landscape away from more commercially oriented sounds. As the first artist from Manchester to achieve significant commercial success in grime, his impact on the genre is profound.

Malone’s early life in Crumpsall, Manchester, was marked by hardship and adversity. Born into a family deeply entrenched in criminal activities, he faced numerous challenges, including poverty and exposure to domestic abuse. The turbulent environment shaped his upbringing, and by the age of eleven, Malone was already involved in criminal activities. This path led to his expulsion from secondary school and eventual incarceration at HMP Stoke Heath when he was sixteen. It was during this period of imprisonment that he began to envision a different future for himself, finding solace and purpose in boxing upon his release at seventeen.

Inspired by the “Risky Roadz” DVD series, which also influenced notable grime artists like Dizzee Rascal and Wiley, Malone started rapping with friends, often freestyling over instrumentals played from mobile phones.
