Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan, born Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García on September 1, 1957, in Havana, Cuba, is a celebrated American singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. After fleeing Cuba with her family following the Cuban Revolution, she settled in Miami, Florida, where she would later rise to fame.

In 1975, Estefan joined the Miami Latin Boys, which was later renamed the Miami Sound Machine, led by her husband, Emilio Estefan. The band’s fusion of Latin rhythms and pop music produced hits like “Conga,” “Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,” and “1-2-3,” playing a key role in popularizing Latin music across the globe.

Over the course of her remarkable career, Estefan has earned seven Grammy Awards and sold over 100 million records worldwide, solidifying her place as one of the best-selling female artists of all time. Her achievements were further recognized in 2015 when she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her cultural contributions.

Beyond music, Estefan has made her mark in acting, children’s literature, and as a co-producer of the Broadway musical “On Your Feet!,” which tells the story of her life and career.
