About Giorno Giovanna

Giorno Giovanna, originally named Haruno Shiobana, is the main protagonist of Golden Wind, the fifth part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure by Hirohiko Araki. Born on April 16, 1985, Giorno has one of the most unique legacies in the series—he is the son of the vampire DIO, conceived while DIO inhabited the body of Jonathan Joestar. This lineage gives Giorno both the Joestar family’s resolve and the Brando legacy’s intensity, a balance that shapes his complex identity.

Giorno’s childhood in Japan was difficult. Raised by a neglectful mother and abused by his stepfather, he grew up feeling isolated and unwanted. However, a single act of kindness—protecting an injured gangster—changed the course of his life. In return, the man ensured Giorno was treated with dignity, instilling in him the belief that good could exist within the world of crime. From that moment, Giorno dreamed of becoming a “Gang-Star”—a mafia leader who would cleanse the criminal underworld from the inside.

Giorno is a Stand user with the power of Gold Experience, which can breathe life into objects, creating animals or plants, and even heal others. Later, his Stand evolves into Gold Experience Requiem, one of the most powerful in the series, capable of negating actions and returning events to a state of zero.

With intelligence, quiet determination, and a strong moral code, Giorno rises through the ranks of the Italian gang Passione. By the end of Golden Wind, he becomes its new boss, fulfilling his dream to bring justice to a corrupted world.
