About Giorgio Poi

Giorgio Poi, born Giorgio Poti on April 12, 1986, in Novara, Italy, is an acclaimed singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Raised between Lucca and Rome, he developed a deep passion for music early on. At 20, he moved to London to study jazz guitar at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, an experience that greatly influenced his artistic evolution.

During his time in London, Giorgio co-founded the band Vadoinmessico, blending indie rock with world music influences. The band released Archaeology of the Future in 2012, touring extensively across Europe and the U.S. However, feeling the pull of his native language, he transitioned to a solo career, writing in Italian for the first time.

His solo breakthrough came in 2016 with the singles “Niente di strano” and “Tubature,” which showcased his signature dreamy sound and introspective lyrics. This led to his debut album, Fa niente (2017), released under Bomba Dischi, earning him a place among Italy’s most exciting indie artists. In 2018, his collaboration with Frah Quintale on “Missili,” produced by Takagi & Ketra, became a hit. His sophomore album, Smog (2019), further cemented his reputation, featuring standout tracks like “Vinavil” and “La musica italiana,” a duet with Calcutta.

Giorgio Poi has also contributed to film and television, composing the soundtrack for Netflix’s Summertime (2020). His third album, Gommapiuma (2021), continued his tradition of blending nostalgic melodies with poetic lyricism. With his distinct voice and evocative storytelling, he remains a defining figure in contemporary Italian music.
