Ghostface Killah, born Dennis Coles on May 9, 1970, in Staten Island, New York, is a legendary figure in hip-hop and one of the original members of the iconic Wu-Tang Clan. Raised in the Stapleton Houses, he grew up facing tough circumstances, including the responsibility of caring for two disabled brothers. Those early struggles shaped his worldview and gave his music a level of emotion and storytelling depth few can match.

His stage name, inspired by a kung fu villain in Mystery of Chessboxing, suits his fierce lyrical style—fast, raw, and packed with vivid imagery. Ghostface first made waves in 1993 with Wu-Tang’s groundbreaking debut Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), helping redefine East Coast rap with a gritty, unified sound.
