GFRIEND

GFRIEND was a South Korean girl group formed by Source Music in 2015, consisting of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji. The group made their debut on January 15, 2015, with the EP Season of Glass, which quickly earned them recognition and several rookie awards. Despite being part of a smaller entertainment company, their powerful performances and fresh concept propelled them into the limelight in the competitive K-pop industry.

Throughout their career, GFRIEND became known for their signature “powerful innocent” concept, combining youthful innocence with sharp, synchronized choreography. They also embraced a “passionate melancholy” approach in their music, incorporating orchestral and emotional sounds. Their music videos were often filled with captivating storytelling, adding depth and meaning to their performances, making them stand out in the K-pop scene.

After six years of impactful music and successful promotions, GFRIEND disbanded on May 22, 2021, following the expiration of their contracts with Source Music. Although their active years were relatively brief, their influence on K-pop remains significant. GFRIEND is remembered for their distinctive concepts, heartfelt music, and memorable storytelling, which have left a lasting legacy in the genre.
