Born Gerald Earl Gillum on May 24, 1989, in Oakland, California, G-Eazy is a rapper, record producer, and actor whose journey to stardom is deeply rooted in his Bay Area upbringing. Immersed in the region’s hyphy hip-hop culture, he began creating mixtapes as a teenager, selling them along Berkeley’s Telegraph Avenue, where he started building a local fanbase.

G-Eazy attended Loyola University New Orleans, where he pursued a degree in Music Industry Studies, graduating in 2011. During his time in college, he collaborated with various artists, including Lil B, Crohn, and The Cataracs, and was part of the MySpace group The Bay Boyz. His mixtape The Endless Summer (2011), which featured tracks like “Runaround Sue” and “Endless Summer,” quickly gained millions of views on YouTube, marking the start of his rise in the music scene.

In 2012, G-Eazy released his debut studio album, Must Be Nice, which reached number three on iTunes’ hip-hop charts. His breakthrough came in 2014 with These Things Happen, his major-label debut under RCA Records, which hit number three on the Billboard 200 and featured the triple-platinum hit “I Mean It.” G-Eazy’s follow-up albums, When It’s Dark Out (2015) and The Beautiful & Damned (2017), continued his success with chart-topping singles like “Me, Myself & I” and “No Limit.”

In addition to his musical career, G-Eazy is known for his philanthropy, including raising $15 million for fire relief efforts in 2018 and founding the Endless Summer Fund to support youth in the Bay Area. His ability to blend West Coast hip-hop influences with a mainstream appeal has solidified G-Eazy as a major figure in the global music industry.
