About Flo Milli

Flo Milli, born Tamia Monique Carter on January 9, 2000, in Mobile, Alabama, is an American rapper who has quickly risen to prominence with her bold and energetic style. From a young age, Carter was drawn to music, writing her first song at just nine years old and beginning to rap at eleven. Her early passion for music led her to form a rap group called Real & Beautiful, later renamed Pink Mafia, though the group dissolved when she was 14. Inspired by a performance by Nicki Minaj on BET’s 106 & Park, Carter began crafting her own verses, gradually developing them into full-fledged songs. Her experiences in high school, where she faced various challenges, shaped her confidence and determination to pursue a career in music, driven by her belief in the importance of self-validation.

Carter started releasing music independently in 2015, with her first solo track, “No Hook,” posted on SoundCloud. However, it was in 2018 that she caught the public’s attention with the release of “Beef FloMix,” a freestyle over the instrumental of Ethereal’s track “Beef” featuring Playboi Carti. The song went viral on social media, particularly on Instagram and TikTok, where it quickly gained traction and reached number two on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart in April 2019. The success of “Beef FloMix” was followed by her 2019 single “In the Party,” which also went viral and earned platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). These tracks established Flo Milli as a rising star in the rap scene and led to her signing a recording contract with Justin Goldman’s ’94 Sounds, an imprint of RCA Records.

In July 2020, Flo Milli released her debut mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here?, to widespread critical acclaim. The mixtape featured a series of confident, no-nonsense tracks that showcased her distinctive style and lyrical prowess. The project was well-received, earning a spot on Rolling Stone’s list of the “Greatest Hip Hop Albums of All Time.” Following the mixtape’s release, she continued to build her career, collaborating with other artists and making appearances at prominent music festivals like Rolling Loud. Flo Milli’s rising profile led to her being nominated for Best New Artist at both the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards and the 2021 BET Awards.

Flo Milli’s debut studio album, You Still Here, Ho?, was released in July 2022. Although the album did not chart, it was met with positive reviews, solidifying her reputation as a formidable talent in the rap industry. The album’s lead single, “Conceited,” was certified gold by the RIAA, further cementing her status as a significant figure in the rap world.

In March 2024, Flo Milli released her second studio album, Fine Ho, Stay, which included the single “Never Lose Me.” This track marked a major milestone in her career, becoming her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked within the top 20. Throughout her career, Flo Milli has been celebrated for her raw, honest vocals and her ability to deliver powerful performances that resonate with listeners. As she continues to evolve as an artist, she remains a prominent and influential voice in the rap industry, known for her unapologetic confidence and innovative approach to music.
