About Flatland Cavalry
Flatland Cavalry is a Texas-grown Americana and country band that’s built a loyal following with their down-to-earth sound and heartfelt songwriting. Formed in 2012 in Lubbock, the group was started by singer-songwriter Cleto Cordero and drummer Jason Albers, who connected while studying at Midland College and later Texas Tech University. As the band evolved, they were joined by guitarist Reid Dillon, bassist Jonathan Saenz, and violinist Laura Jane—who was later replaced by Wesley Hall. Multi-instrumentalist Adam Gallegos eventually came aboard, bringing a rich mix of piano, mandolin, banjo, and more to their dynamic sound.
Their journey began with the Come May EP in 2015, setting the stage for a strong debut album, Humble Folks, the following year. That record helped launch them onto the national radar, landing on Billboard’s Americana/Folk and Top Country Albums charts. Flatland Cavalry continued to refine their blend of traditional country, folk, and modern Americana across subsequent albums like Homeland Insecurity (2019), Welcome to Countryland (2021), and Wandering Star (2023). Their honest lyrics and approachable style have drawn comparisons to Red Dirt favorites like the Turnpike Troubadours.
With over 500 million streams and six #1 singles on Texas Country Radio, the band has proven they’re not just a regional favorite—they’re a rising force in country music. They’ve toured alongside major acts like Willie Nelson, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, and Midland, bringing their West Texas spirit to stages across the country.
In 2024, Flatland Cavalry marked their 10-year anniversary with a special album titled Flatland Forever. Featuring the fan-favorite track “Lubbock,” it served as both a tribute to their hometown roots and a celebration of how far they’ve come. With Cleto Cordero’s introspective songwriting leading the way, the band continues to resonate with fans who crave authenticity in every note.
