While in university, he developed a keen interest in music, which ultimately led him to move to Lagos to pursue his musical aspirations full-time. His breakthrough came with the release of his single “Jealous,” which was initially part of YBNL Nation’s collaborative album, YBNL Mafia Family (2018). The song, a blend of African harmonies with elements of country and soul music, was re-released on March 25, 2019. It features guitar riffs and traditional drums and percussion, capturing Fireboy’s ability to blend diverse musical styles.
