About Abyss, Watching Me
Abyss, Watching Me (AWM) is a post-hardcore band formed in 2011 in Stavropol, Russia, by vocalist Egor Erushin, who was also a member of the Czech metalcore band Marina. Initially conceived in Russia, the band later relocated to Prague, Czech Republic, where they continued to evolve their sound, blending elements of alternative rock and post-hardcore. AWM quickly garnered attention in the Eastern European music scene, becoming a prominent name within the post-hardcore genre.
The band’s debut album, Don’t Take Away This Moment, was released in 2011 and gained notable success in Russia, marking their entrance into the alternative music world. The album’s success motivated AWM to push forward with new material, and in 2012, they followed up with the release of two new singles. These early releases helped solidify the band’s reputation, gaining them a dedicated fan base and positioning them as rising stars within the genre.
By 2014, AWM had expanded their presence beyond Russia, playing their first live shows in the Czech Republic alongside international acts such as Escape the Fate and Hopes Die Last. This period marked a turning point for the band, helping them build a wider European audience. They also released the single “The Oil, the Canvas,” which featured guest vocals from Garret Rapp of The Color Morale. The accompanying lyric video received widespread attention, with major international websites and bands like Oceans Red and Forget by Silence sharing it. The video gained 45,000 views on YouTube within two weeks and has since reached over 80,000 views, showcasing the band’s growing popularity.
In the fall of 2015, Abyss, Watching Me released their debut music video for the track “A Brand New You,” which garnered 35,000 views in under two weeks. That same year, the band embarked on a tour across Belgium, France, and Germany, marking their first foray into Western Europe. These tours allowed the band to connect with new audiences and solidify their reputation as a formidable live act.
In April 2016, the band released their second album, Honesty, a record that highlighted their maturation as musicians. The album was produced by Kris Crummett, an American producer known for working with prominent post-hardcore bands like Issues, Sleeping with Sirens, and Emarosa. Honesty featured guest appearances from members of Betraying The Martyrs, The Color Morale, In Fear And Faith, Everyone Dies In Utah, and Dead Silence Hides My Cries, further establishing AWM as a respected act in the international post-hardcore scene.
Following the success of Honesty, AWM worked on their third full-length album, Ignite, which continued to push the boundaries of their sound. In support of the album, they toured extensively across Eastern Europe, sharing stages with notable bands such as Bad Omens, Oceans Ate Alaska, Annisokay, and In Hearts Wake. These tours helped the band strengthen their presence in the European alternative music scene.
Today, Abyss, Watching Me remains an active and evolving force within post-hardcore. The band members Egor Erushin (vocals), Nikita Tarassenko (guitar), Václav Bečvář (guitar), Martin Krejcik (bass), and Jana Čermaková (drums) continue to create and perform, bringing their dynamic sound to audiences across Europe and beyond.
