Disturbed is a powerhouse in the heavy metal scene, known for their electrifying sound and intense performances. The band was originally formed in Chicago in 1994 under the name Brawl, with Dan Donegan (guitar), Mike Wengren (drums), Steve “Fuzz” Kmak (bass), and Erich Awalt (vocals). However, it wasn’t until David Draiman joined as the lead vocalist in 1996 that Disturbed truly took shape. With a new frontman and a fresh identity, the band was ready to make their mark.

Their breakthrough came in 2000 with The Sickness, an album that introduced the world to hits like Stupify and Down with the Sickness. The latter became an anthem of early 2000s metal, helping cement Disturbed as a dominant force in the genre. They continued their success with a string of number-one albums, including Believe (2002), Ten Thousand Fists (2005), Indestructible (2008), and Asylum (2010), proving their staying power.

After a brief hiatus in 2011, Disturbed returned in 2015 with Immortalized, featuring their hauntingly beautiful cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence, which introduced them to a broader audience. Over the years, their music has evolved, blending elements of heavy metal, hard rock, and alternative metal, all while maintaining their signature intensity.

Now, in 2025, Disturbed remains a global metal heavyweight, boasting over 17 million albums sold and 14 billion streams. Down with the Sickness has reached 8× platinum status, and to celebrate 25 years of The Sickness, they’re hitting the road again, with a major show in Glasgow alongside Megadeth. With their relentless energy and anthemic sound, Disturbed continues to define what it means to be a modern metal band.
