Nasibu Abdul Juma Issaack, popularly known by his stage name Diamond Platnumz, is a Tanzanian bongo flava recording artist, dancer, philanthropist, and businessman. He was born on October 2, 1989, in Tandale, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Diamond Platnumz has become one of the most influential and beloved figures in the East and Central African music scene. His journey to stardom began in 2006 when, at the age of 18, he started recording music while selling clothes to fund his passion. Despite the commercial failure of his first single “Toka Mwanzo,” he persevered and eventually found success with his breakthrough hit single “Kamwambie” in 2010. This song not only earned him widespread recognition but also won three Tanzania Music Awards.

Diamond’s musical career continued to soar as he released his debut studio album, Kamwambie, in 2010. Over the years, he has consistently delivered hit songs and albums, cementing his status as a leading artist in the bongo flava genre. In 2014, he received a nomination for Best International Act: Africa at the BET Awards, further solidifying his international presence. One of his most notable achievements came in 2017 when he signed a record deal with Universal Music, followed by the release of his third studio album, A Boy from Tandale, in 2018. This album showcased his versatility and ability to blend different musical styles.

In 2021, Diamond and his record label WCB Wasafi entered into a 360 Partnership with Warner Music Group, marking a significant milestone in his career. He has frequently collaborated with top videographer Director Kenny, with their music video for “Waah” being nominated for “Best African Video” at the 2021 All Africa Music Awards. “Waah” is one of the most-watched Tanzanian music videos on YouTube, amassing over 100 million views. In 2022, Diamond released his extended playlist First Of All (FOA), featuring top African artists like Zuchu, Adekunle Gold, and Focalistic. In 2023, he collaborated once again with Congolese musician Koffi Olomide, and that same year, he won his third MTV EMA for Best African Act.

Beyond his musical accomplishments, Diamond Platnumz is also a successful businessman. He is the founder and CEO of WCB Wasafi Record Label, Wasafi Bet, and Wasafi Media. He has been involved in several commercial endorsements, including becoming the brand ambassador for Pepsi, Parimatch Africa, Nice One, Coral Paints, and Airtel Tanzania. In 2021, he launched Wasafibet in partnership with Odibets, a Kenyan sports betting company.

Diamond’s personal life has also garnered significant media attention. He is a Muslim and has four children from different relationships, including with South African-based Ugandan businesswoman Zari Hassan and Tanzanian model Hamisa Mobetto. He has also dated Kenyan model and musician Tanasha Donna. Diamond’s family includes his cousin, Tanzanian socialite-cum-DJ Romy Jones, and his sisters, musician Queen Darleen and entrepreneur-socialite Esma Platnumz.

Throughout his career, Diamond has been a strong supporter of Tanzania’s dominant ruling party, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), and has endorsed its presidential candidates. His political involvement extends to the 2022 Kenyan general election, where he endorsed and performed at Raila Odinga’s campaign rally.
