Debra Jo Rupp

Debra Jo Rupp, born on February 24, 1951, in Glendale, California, is a celebrated American actress best known for her versatile roles in television, film, and theater.

Raised in Boxford, Massachusetts, Rupp graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in 1969 before going on to study Drama at the University of Rochester in New York, where she earned her degree in 1974.

Rupp’s career spans over four decades, with her most iconic role being Kitty Forman in the hit Fox sitcom That ’70s Show (1998–2006). Her portrayal of the warm and humorous mother earned her widespread recognition and made her a beloved figure in the world of television. Beyond That ’70s Show, she appeared in a recurring role as Alice Knight-Buffay in Friends (1997–1998), and voiced the character Mrs. Helpman in the animated series Teacher’s Pet (2000–2002) and its 2004 film sequel.

Rupp’s film credits include memorable roles in Big (1988) as Miss Patterson, Death Becomes Her (1992) as a psychiatric patient, and Sgt. Bilko (1996) as Mrs. Hall.

In recent years, Rupp joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mrs. Hart in the Disney+ series WandaVision (2021), a role she reprised in the upcoming spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos (2024).
