Cody Johnson

Cody Johnson is a celebrated American country music singer and songwriter, known for his seamless blend of contemporary and traditional country sounds. Born on May 21, 1987, in Sebastopol, Texas, he grew up in a musically inclined family. By the age of 12, he was already deeply involved in music, learning guitar and drums. Throughout his high school years, he performed at church and formed his first band, all while pursuing competitive bull riding.

In 2006, Cody Johnson formed the Cody Johnson Band and recorded the album Black and White Label. The band’s 2009 album, Six Strings One Dream, gained recognition with three top 10 singles on Texas music charts. His 2014 album Cowboy Like Me debuted in the top 10 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart, marking a milestone in his career.

Johnson’s 2016 album, Gotta Be Me, earned a spot at number two on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart. In 2018, he made history as the first independent artist to sell out the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. His 2019 major-label debut, Ain’t Nothin’ to It, featured the hit single “On My Way to You.” In 2021, his double album Human: The Double Album showcased his evolving artistry.

In 2023, Cody released Leather, which won Album of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards. He credits his wife, Brandi Johnson, for her unwavering support throughout his career. Known for his high-energy live performances, Cody Johnson continues to captivate audiences nationwide.
