About Chevelle
Chevelle is an American rock band formed in 1995 in Grayslake, Illinois, by brothers Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar) and Sam Loeffler (drums). Initially, Matt Scott played bass, but he was replaced by their brother Joe Loeffler in 1996. The band’s name, “Chevelle,” is inspired by their love for fast cars, particularly the Chevrolet Chevelle.
Chevelle made their debut in 1999 with the album Point #1 under Squint Entertainment, but it was their 2002 follow-up, Wonder What’s Next, that brought them mainstream success. The album achieved double platinum status in the U.S. and included hit singles like “The Red” and “Send the Pain Below,” both of which dominated the Mainstream Rock charts.
Throughout their career, Chevelle has released several critically acclaimed albums, including This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In) (2004), Vena Sera (2007), Sci-Fi Crimes (2009), La Gárgola (2014), The North Corridor (2016), and NIRATIAS (2021). Their music is known for its heavy, riff-driven sound, which has garnered them a dedicated fanbase.
The band’s lineup has seen some changes over the years. Joe Loeffler, the original bassist, left in 2005 and was replaced by Dean Bernardini, who also departed in 2019. Since 2021, Kemble Walters has been serving as their touring bassist.
As of March 2025, Chevelle announced their summer tour, beginning on August 7 at the Boeing Center in San Antonio, Texas, alongside the release of a new single, “Rabbit Hole (Cowards, Pt. 1).”
