Charlie Wilson

Charlie Wilson, born Charles Kent Wilson on January 29, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a celebrated American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He rose to fame as the lead vocalist of The Gap Band, a funk and R&B group formed in 1967 with his brothers Ronnie and Robert. With hits like “You Dropped a Bomb on Me” and “Outstanding,” the band became a major force in shaping funk and R&B music during the ’70s and ’80s.

Wilson’s career took a new direction in the early 1990s when he launched his solo career, debuting with You Turn My Life Around in 1992.
