He is an American singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist, and worship leader known for his contributions to contemporary Christian music and Gospel. Raised in a deeply religious environment, Moore grew up attending church where his father, Bishop Brian David Moore, was a pastor. This early exposure to church music and worship played a significant role in shaping his musical career. During his youth, Moore developed a passion for music and experienced a profound personal encounter with God, which deepened his commitment to studying the Bible and pursuing a career in Christian music.
Moore began his professional music journey as a background vocalist for prominent gospel artists like Travis Greene and Tye Tribbett, where he also started writing songs for artists such as Bri Babineaux and Tribbett. His early work laid a strong foundation for his future success. In 2014, Moore released his debut single, “Never Runs Out,” independently, followed by another single, “Our Hope,” in December of the same year. These releases marked the beginning of his solo career, but it was his collaboration with Bri Babineaux on the single “What You Don’t Realize” in 2017 and his solo single “What a Friend” in 2018 that started to gain him wider recognition.
Moore’s significant breakthrough came with his involvement in Maverick City Music, a collective known for its innovative approach to worship music. In 2020, Maverick City Music released two projects, including “Man of Your Word,” a collaboration with KJ Scriven, which gained notable traction. Moore also featured on “Voice of God” with Dante Bowe and Steffany Gretzinger, and both songs achieved considerable success on Christian music charts. On July 3, 2020, Moore’s feature on All Nations Music’s “Bless Your Name” further cemented his rising status in the gospel music scene.
The release of Moore’s debut visual album, Feelings, on November 13, 2020, marked a milestone in his career. The album debuted at number four on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart and showcased Moore’s vocal range and songwriting prowess. In early 2021, Moore and Essential Worship released a version of Hillsong Worship’s “King of Kings,” and he continued to build on his success with the collaborative album Old Church Basement with Elevation Worship. The album included chart-topping singles “Jireh” and “Wait on You,” both of which featured Moore’s vocals and achieved significant chart success, with “Jireh” reaching number one on the Hot Gospel Songs chart.
Moore’s achievements in 2021 were recognized with two GMA Dove Award nominations, and he received four Grammy Award nominations in 2022, highlighting his impact in the Gospel and Christian music genres. His work with Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music, as well as his collaborations with artists like Justin Bieber and Tori Kelly, further demonstrate his versatility and influence in the music industry.
Throughout his career, Chandler Moore has been a prominent figure in contemporary Christian music, known for his powerful vocals, songwriting skills, and dedication to worship. His contributions have not only shaped the modern gospel sound but also inspired a new generation of worshippers and music enthusiasts.
