C. Tangana

C. Tangana, born Antón Álvarez Alfaro on July 16, 1990, in Madrid, Spain, has established himself as one of the most innovative artists in contemporary Latin music. Initially known by the stage name “Crema,” he began his music career in 2006 as part of the Spanish rap collective Agorazein. His solo breakthrough came in 2017 with the release of his hit single “Mala Mujer,” which quickly gained widespread recognition and marked the start of his successful solo journey.

Tangana’s 2021 album, El Madrileño, marked a turning point in his career, where he skillfully blended traditional Spanish sounds like flamenco with modern genres such as Latin pop and reggaeton. The album received critical acclaim, earning him a Latin Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, and it became the best-selling album in Spain that year, cementing his status as a leading figure in the Spanish music scene.

Expanding beyond music, C. Tangana ventured into filmmaking with his directorial debut, La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés, a documentary that premiered at the 2024 San Sebastián Film Festival. The film explores the life of guitarist Yerai Cortés and went on to win the prestigious Goya Award for Best Documentary in 2025.

With numerous accolades, including nine Latin Grammy Awards and two Premios Odeón, C. Tangana’s ability to fuse diverse musical styles and his exploration of different artistic fields have made him a prominent cultural figure in Spain and beyond.
