About Byron Messia
Byron Messia, born Dylan Byron on April 10, 2000, in Kingston, Jamaica, is a talented singer and songwriter who has quickly risen to prominence in the global dancehall scene. At just two months old, he moved to Saint Kitts and Nevis, where he grew up surrounded by the island’s rich musical influences. His passion for music started in his teenage years, drawing inspiration from local artists and genres, including dancehall and Afrobeats, which have shaped his distinctive sound.
Messia’s breakout moment came in 2023 with the release of his hit single “Talibans,” which gained widespread attention. The song was later remixed featuring Nigerian artist Burna Boy, and the collaboration, titled “Talibans II,” made history as the first song from a Saint Kitts and Nevis artist to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also earned gold certifications in both the United Kingdom and Canada, marking a significant achievement in Messia’s career.
Building on this success, he released his debut album No Love in January 2023, which debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. He followed up with singles like “Mad Dawgs,” “La La,” and “Choppa,” the latter featuring Lil Baby and produced by Rvssian, which further solidified his place in the international music scene.
Messia is known for his unique fusion of dancehall rhythms and soulful melodies, a genre he calls “dancesoul.” His music not only showcases his musical versatility but also reflects his dedication to uplifting his community and inspiring listeners worldwide.
