Bwiza

Bwiza Emerance, known by her stage name Bwiza, is an emerging Rwandan singer, songwriter, and performer who has quickly become one of the most recognized names in Rwanda’s music scene. Born on August 9, 1999, in Muhanga District, Rwanda, Bwiza grew up in Nyamata, Bugesera District, as the eldest of four siblings. Her early years were marked by a deep connection to music, having participated in various church choirs starting at the age of eight. This early exposure to music laid the foundation for her future career.

She attended Kigali Harvest Primary School and later studied at St. Joseph’s High School before completing her high school education at St. Aloysius High School in Rwamagana. In 2020, Bwiza pursued higher education in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Mount Kenya University, all while continuing to nurture her musical passion.

In 2021, Bwiza’s musical journey took a major turn when she won the inaugural “The Next Diva – Indi Mbuto” competition, organized by KIKAC Music Label. This victory earned her a five-year contract with the label, which led to the release of her debut album, My Dream. The album features hits like “Ahazaza” and “Warubizi” and includes collaborations with artists such as Danny Vumbi and Miss Jojo.

Blending traditional Rwandan sounds with contemporary Afrobeat rhythms, Bwiza’s music has resonated with a wide audience. She has performed at prestigious events like the Choice Awards and Trace Awards, further establishing herself as a key figure in Rwanda’s music scene.
